Spotted : Buyani Duma-Mcunu

I decided to track down this young man for a mini interview. I like his style, bold and in his own words "a combination of all the ingredients".

Who is Buyani Duma-Mcunu?
Buyani is a 19 year old stylist/ designer from Durban

How would you describe your style?
My style is very much similar to shangaan stew, its an eclectic combination of all the ingredients that tickle my fanny. I love colour. I love volume. I love thigh!

Your Style icons?
My style icons are Lindiwe Suttle, Felipe Mazibuko, Grace Jones, Stiaan Louw and Daphne Guiness.

Where do you shop for clothes?
I shop everywhere from vintage markets to outdoor-bundle boutiques. I wil visit a real shop once in a while

Your Future plans?
My future plans, among many, are to open a styling company and maybe a menswear clothing label, Krishna will decide. I also see myself as one of the future pioneers of South African Fashion.

Your fashion inspirations?

My inspiration stems from everything! I am inspired by tribal tramps and village w$%$, city sluts and greasy gypsies, Allah, Jesus, Buddha and the Gaygod. Even a can of chakalaka can inspire a look!

New York AW11: Buckler

Buckler is one collection that I liked. It was held outside on the street. Models braved the cold. Its a decent collection. Color-wise, he used black, blue, camel and white.

Fall 2011: Turtlenecks

The turtlenecks is back on top this fall. From Versace, Jill Sander to Dolce & Gabbana....etc. It can really rock the whole outfit, just be smart and choose the right color and fit for you. I personally like turtlenecks. One thing I learnt in the past few months is nothing goes out of style......style is recycled.
